it seems like the world`s getting a lil bit crazier every day. katrina does new orleans, switzerland and hald of europe are or were underwater and we`re getting hit by a typhoon at the moment. this really just means a lot of wind and rain here but really nothin to worry about..hope you`re all well over there!
i just found this internet cafe in nisshin today, it has cubicles for everyone! with walls, drinks for free etc..just great, really! been cookin away at home, lots of fun. reading one murakami after the other, working like a proper salaryman, doin the karaoke, goin out...the places to go here are called izakayas. they`re kind of like pubs that offer food. there`s a general selcetion that all of them have and each one has its specialities. everyone of them here has tebasaki, fried and peppered chicken wings. to that add kimchi, korean-style fermented chinese cabbage with chili (very nice), yakitori (all sorts of things on skewers, usuallt involving all sorts of chicken parts..) then there`s okonomiyaki, a mix between pancake and pizza, the ubiquitous sushi and sashimi, tempura bars, ramen shops, soba noodles, etc...my plan of losing that protruding beer belly of mine has so far been utterly unfruitful.
the yanks (matt, the other foreign teacher and ben from austin, texas) and me have started a regular poker night, which is lots of fun. cleaned up last time and now they want a rematch, goin down on friday.

results will be posted. i`m planning on teaching them chratze, we`ll see.
