ah, finally recovered from that stupid stupid stomach bug. first time i've taken antibiotics (lit. "things against life", says it all) in about 17 years..but the squids are a pain in the arse. also quite literally. i felt sort of cleaned out afterwards, though. and not a drop of alcohol in a week also felt good. not that i want to this kind of thing ever again, though. i'm not like that crazy woman my mum knows who would leave mortadella sausage in the fridge until it had mould growing in small little green fluffy towers all over it only to devour every bit of it so her body would get 'a good clean'. no sir. the story is true, though, crazy woman allright.
even though I'm sweating like a pig on a spit it's getting colder in aichi, japan. not that you could tell it was the end of september but still...i have a feeling there's a cold winter to come and I'm not exactly geared up for it. today is toyota day, which is usually fun. no kids, which is good. they're cute as buttons but the amount of energy they require to say 'octopus' correctly is really quite up there with trying to get money out after midnight in this country.
read banana yoshimoto's "kitchen" a few days ago (thanks kristin!) and it reminded me of the fact that I've hardly read any female authors. about to change, though. even though death is the central theme of "kitchen" it's surrounded in this beautiful warmth i have seldom seen in the written word. read it, it's good. plus it's written by a woman called banana. just get it. other than that i'm still hapharzdly (half-arsedly?) trying to get hooked up to the net. even though this internet cafe here is quite nice (cubicles with walls and sliding doors and comfy chairs for everyone, plus a freely accesible drink bar. take that, world!) it gets a bit pricy after a while. and it's a 15 minute walk. booo! anyways, I7ll get back to you when I actually have something to write. hugs and kisses all round. gg
