well, folks, it looks like we have a winner for the itinerary!
after lots of debating, searching, etc. we found the ultimate cheap ticket@Airtreks:
Nagoya -> Hanoi ->overland to Bangkok (either via Chiang Mai or Angkor Wat) -> Manila -> Kuala Lumpur -> Sydney -> Coolangatta, all for about US$1500!
First, we'll visit Halong Bay near Hanoi, then travel either along the Vietnamese coast towards Ho Chi Minh City, aka Saigon or inland through Laos, towards Chiang Mai in Thailand.
Then Bangkok and surroundings until we'll catch the plane to Manila to celebrate Chrissi with wr's relatives. From there, it's down to Kuala Lumpur, from where we're either going to explore the tropical islands of Malaysia or Southern Thailand, where there are gargantuan moths. After we're sick of white sandy beaches, it's off to a quick stop in Sydney and then on to Cawongla, to chill in the straw bale cottage and to ponder the future. Whaddaya reckon?
PS: Reto is supposedly in the air as I type and should arrive here sometime tomorrow evening. Yay!
